German Foreign Minister: Progress has been made regarding the removal of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya

Libyan Cloud News Agency – Berlin

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas stressed on Wednesday that there is an understanding between Turkey and Russia that the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya will not take place suddenly, but rather gradually.

In a press conference following the Second Berlin Conference on Libya, Maas said that Turkey had indicated that there is a difference between the presence of mercenaries in Libya and its regular presence in the field of military training.

Maas said that progress has been made in the file of removing mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya, which is one of the most important demands of the international community to bring peace and restore stability in the country.

Maas explained that the removal of foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya should be done in a balanced manner and not to be done quickly by one side because it may allow the other side to gain military weight, resulting in unwise decisions.
