International Museum Day celebrated in Tripoli

The National Museum held a celebration at the Red Castle in Tripoli in commemoration of the International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 every year.

The program of the celebration included speeches and a visual presentation of the activities of The Museums Affairs Department.

The director of the National Museum, Fathiya Ahmed, told the Libyan Cloud News Agency that the whole world has been celebrating the International Day of Museums since 1977, when UNESCO and the International Council of Museums realized the importance of museums in spreading awareness, culture, and preserving historical heritage.
