Day of the Arab document: “The role of the document in the preservation of national memory”

The Libyan Association for Libraries, Information and Archives organized a symposium entitled “The role of the document in the preservation of national memory” on the occasion of the celebration of the Arab Document Day. The symposium took place at the meeting hall of the Tripoli House for Culture and Arts on Wednesday.
A number of papers were presented at the symposium which focused on the importance and value of the document and the need to raise awareness among citizens to preserve the documents and to seek to repair and maintain the damaged ones. Further to communicate with the competent authorities in archiving, recording, documenting and indexing the documents so that they do not get lost.
The Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) has adopted the October 17 selection of the Arabic document as a response to the Arab Club for Information and Documentation initiative.
