Act of sabotage in an archaeological site in Shahhat

One of the archaeological sites in the city of Shahhat has been sabotaged.

Activists circulated videos and photos on social media showing the extent of the damage that was caused to some statues, sparking anger in the city.

The protection of the archaeological sites is the responsibility of the Tourism Police, which complains about a lack of the necessary capabilities and equipment to enable it to perform its tasks.

The Shahhat Security Directorate examined the site, in the presence of the Antiquities Department, and opened an investigation into the act of sabotage.
