The Director of the National Center for Disease Control, Haidar Al-Sayeh, held a press conference on Monday to talk about the latest developments in the epidemiological situation and the new coronavirus variant “Omicron”.
Al-Sayeh said that “Omicron” was first detected in South Africa on 9 November, and that the center held emergency meetings to adopt several measures, including imposing some restrictions on Libyan ports.
He stated that the center issued recommendations including banning travel to the countries where “Omicron” was detected, and banning foreigners from entering Libya until they take a 10-day quarantine period in one of the Libyan hotels at their expenses, while Libyan nationals returning home will have to self-isolate at home.
