UNSMIL Coordinator met with representatives of Libyan political parties

The Coordinator of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Raisedon Zenenga, met virtually with more than 15 representatives of political parties from all regions of the country.
UNSMIL said that the participants stressed the importance of taking Libya out of the transitional phase through national elections that must be held as scheduled on 24 December 2021.
They urged the concerned Libyan authorities to approve the necessary constitutional and legal framework for the elections before 01 June.
They called for the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Libya without further delay, stressing the need to improve the living conditions of the Libyan people and the need to foster national reconciliation to achieve lasting peace and stability.
