The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, held a joint press conference with his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez, in Tripoli on Thursday.
Al-Dabaiba welcomed the return of diplomatic relations between the two countries after years of absence of the Spanish diplomatic representation from Libya.
Al-Dabaiba praised the decision taken by the Spanish Prime Minister to reopen the Spanish embassy in Tripoli, considering it is a step in the right direction that shows the Spanish government’s seriousness in raising the level of relations and strengthening its diplomatic presence in Libya.
He said that he was looking forward to more positive steps by resuming air traffic between Libyan and Spanish airports, and facilitating visas to Libyans, especially students studying in Spain.
The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity thanked the Spanish government for agreeing to treat a number of children with cancer in Spanish hospitals.
