Protest rally of journalists across Libya

On Sunday, dozens of Libyan journalists in various Libyan cities protested against the violations and attacks they are subjected to by armed groups. After several violent attacks they launched a campaign #Journalists are not terrorist last week.

They request the authorities to respect their work and to respect the citizens’ right for information.The journalists announced not to cover any government activity anymore till their safety, respect for freedom of opinion and expression is guaranteed and they get access, facilitation for dissemination and circulation of information, which they consider to be the most basic rights guaranteed by international and humanitarian legislation and laws.

More than 150 journalists and media outlets sent a memorandum to the President and Vice-Presidents of the Presidential Council and a number of ministers of the UN- and EU-backed Government of National Accord GNA, including a number of violations and attacks and violations committed against them and repeated inside institutions and government headquarters and with the members of the protection or because of them
