NOC: The increase of blackout hours in the eastern region is due to the oil ports closure

Libyan Cloud News Agency – Tripoli

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has renewed its warning about the imminent stopping of the natural gas supply to Zueitina and North Benghazi power stations in eastern Libya.

NOC explained in a statement that due to the forced closure of the oil ports in the Gulf of Sirte, the tanks of natural gas liquids will be filled.

It added that Sirte Oil and Gas Company produces natural gas from the company’s fields in the eastern region, but the closure of the oil ports had stopped the production at Al-Faraa and Abu Attifel oil fields, which led to a decrease in the company’s gas supply to the Zueitina and North Benghazi power stations from 250 million cubic feet to 160 million cubic feet of gas per day.

NOC expected that the gas supply to the two power stations would completely stop on Saturday, August 15, 2020, which would increase blackout hours in the eastern region.
