Libyan Coast Guard rescued 11259 migrants in 2020

The Director of Operations Department of the Libyan Coast Guard, Brigadier Masoud Abdul Samad, confirmed to the Libyan Cloud News Agency that rescue operations are continuing now and have not stopped in 2020 despite the Coronavirus pandemic and the war in south Tripoli.
Abdul Samad said that there are 10 landing points from Misrata to Zuwara, and there is mutual cooperation between the Coast Guard and intergovernmental organizations to provide health and relief services to the rescued migrants.
“We are in continuous cooperation with the Mediterranean countries and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency through search and rescue centers, and there is an exchange of information between us.” He said.
It is noteworthy that the number of rescue operations that took place in 2020 reached 11259, while the number of recovered bodies reached 18, and the missing migrants reached 10.
