A Turkish government delegation visited Tripoli to review the maritime agreement

A high-level Turkish delegation discussed on Monday in Tripoli the maritime agreement with Libya, which was signed with the previous Government of National Accord.

In a joint press conference with her Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Najla Al-Manqoush, stressed Tripoli’s appreciation for Turkey’s support for the ceasefire in Libya, calling on it to cooperate with the Government of National Unity in order to end the presence of mercenaries in the country.

She explained that Libya seeks to establish strong economic and development relations with Turkey in the interests of the two countries.

Al-Manqoush said that Turkey will send an expert next Thursday to study ways to resume direct Turkish Airlines flights from Libyan territory.

For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said that the Turkish delegation, which also includes Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, discussed in Tripoli the issue of the maritime border demarcation agreement and what could be done in this regard.  

Cavusoglu explained that the aim of his visit is to stress Turkey’s support for the Government of National Unity and to strengthen relations in a way that serves the interests of the Libyan and Turkish peoples.
