The spokesman for the Government of National Unity, Mohammad Hammouda, held a press conference in Tripoli on Thursday to brief reporters on the outcomes of the government’s meeting and the latest developments in the country.
Hammouda said that the government will pay a monthly allowance to families with limited income to improve their living conditions and help them cope with rising prices.
He explained that the government had given permission to the General Electricity Company to sign contracts with local and international companies to supply spare parts and carry out maintenance to power stations.
As for lifting fuel subsidies, he said that the government did not take any decision in this regard, but it formed a committee to study it and submit proposals to the prime minister’s office.
Hammouda emphasized that the recently formed committee regarding the Coronavirus pandemic is a technical committee that does not have any specializations with regard to the supply of vaccines or the issue of contracts, but rather a scientific committee and a house of expertise for the state to manage this pandemic.
The government spokesman also described the security file as thorny and huge, indicating that the ceasefire is continuing and that work is going on to reopen the coastal road, remove mines and unify the Libyan army.
