The Sons of Libya Group: Obstruction of the elections is only a pretext for extending mandate

The Sons of Libya Group has expressed its concern about the process of negotiations between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State on the constitutional basis for the elections.

In a statement, the group said that obstruction of the elections is only a pretext for extending and refusing the peaceful transfer of power, warning the two sides that it is the last chance for consensus and agreement on a constitutional basis and a new government that unifies the country and supervises the elections in a period not exceeding March 2023.

The group held the High Council of State fully responsible in the event of disagreement before the end of next March, as the House of Representatives may present a constitutional basis and an election law in a unilateral manner.
