UN Secretary-General: There is no military solution for the Libya crisis

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said on Sunday January 19, that the United Nations provides full support for all the efforts that aimed at resolving the Libyan crisis.
In his speech at the Berlin Conference on Libya, Guterres added that the United Nations is committed to bringing a peaceful solution to the crisis.
“There is no military solution for Libya. Immediate and decisive measures must be taken to prevent an all-out civil war,” he stressed.
He urged all those involved directly or indirectly in the Libyan conflict to do everything in their power to support the actual cessation of hostilities and stop the continuing and flagrant violations of the arms embargo imposed by the Security Council.
Guterres also welcomed the recent announcement of ceasefire in Tripoli. He called on the Libyan parties to engage in a dialogue on the political, economic and military issues within the framework of an inclusive process led by the Libyans.
