Libyan Foreign Ministry rejected to nominate Al-Shamakhi as the head of Arab League mission in Madrid

Libyan Cloud News Agency – Tripoli

The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the nomination of the former deputy representative of the Libyan mission to the League of Arab States, Saleh Al-Shamakhi, as the head of Arab League mission in Madrid.

In a statement, the ministry clarified that Al-Shamakhi had exceeded the period specified for his work in office in accordance with the laws in force, and due to his refusal to return to his previous work in Libya, a decision was issued to refer him to retirement at the end of last June.

The ministry confirmed that Al-Shamakhi no longer represents the Libyan state at any level in the Arab League, pointing out that Libya would retain the right to occupy this position and abide by it, assuring the League and its presidency of Libya’s keenness to recommend and nominate a person with competence, experience and professional integrity, at the time specified by the League of Arab States.
