Libya attends a regional conference on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists

A regional conference for Arab countries on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists has started in the Tunisian capital Tunis, under the auspices of UNESCO and the International Federation of Journalists.
A number of ambassadors and regional and international organizations participated in the conference, including the Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication in Tunisia, the Gulf Center for Human Rights, the unions of journalists in Iraq, Yemen and Tunisia, in addition to the General Authority for Monitoring Media Content and some journalists from Libya.
In his speech, the head of the General Authority for Monitoring Media Content, Jalal Othman, recounted the history of the media and its legislation in Libya.
The two-day conference will address several issues, most notably the United Nations action plan for the safety of journalists, the impunity, legal protection and support mechanisms for journalists, the safety of female journalists in the region, and the new international agreement to enhance the safety of media workers.
