The Algerian National Company for Electricity and Gas, Sonelgaz, announced that it would start supplying Libya with 200 megawatts of electricity through the Tunisian network within the next two days.
Sonelgaz said in a statement that its CEO Chaher Boulakhras visited Tripoli last Thursday, accompanied by a delegation of senior employees and a team of technicians, and discussed ways to supply Libya with electricity this summer.
Boulakhras held discussions with the Chainman of Libya’s General Electricity Company, Wiam Al-Abdali, during which he announced that Sonelgaz would start supplying Libya with 180 to 200 megawatts of electricity through the Tunisian network.
He concluded that the installation of a direct electricity line between Algeria and Libya is a historic decision.
