291 migrants rescued off the coast of Zawiya

A patrol of the Libyan Coast Guard rescued 291 migrants of African and Asian nationalities.
The migrants were sailing in a rubber boat towards the European shores.
The rescue operation took place off the north of the city of Zawiya. The migrants were disembarked at the landing point of the Tripoli Naval Base.
According to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Control Agency, the rescue operation comes within the framework of the humanitarian efforts and tasks to protect the Libyan coast and save the lives of migrants at sea.
The agency added that it will complete the necessary procedures for deporting the migrants to their countries.
