The University of Sabratha celebrated World Poetry Day

The Department of Arabic Language at the University of Sabratha celebrated World Poetry Day under the theme “Arabic poetry, history, identity and culture”.

The department’s professors and a number of poets took part in the celebration.

Speeches were given during the celebration to highlight the event, in addition to visual presentations of the history of Arab poetry and the most prominent Arab poets.

World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21 March, and was declared by UNESCO in 1999, with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard.
