The Libyan Prime Minister called for the protection of journalists

The Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, issued a circular on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, affirming a number of binding directives to support press freedom and protect journalists.
Dabaiba indicated that it is forbidden to target or harass journalists based on their opinions or because of their affiliation, as well as arresting them or using violence against them while performing their duties.
Dabaiba called for protection of journalists while performing their work, considering this among the priorities of the government.
He pledged to guarantee the right of journalists to protect the sources of their information and to work to restructure the Libyan media and press institutions.
