UNSMIL announces the formation of an advisory committee for the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum

The Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Stephanie Williams, has announced the establishment of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum LPDF’s Advisory Committee.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said in a statement that it had received a total of 28 nominations from the LPDF for membership of the Advisory Committee and that 18 members had been chosen to ensure broad geographical and political diversity as well as the participation of women, youth, and cultural components.

UNSMIL added that the Advisory Committee’s mandate will be strictly time-bound and its main mission shall be to discuss outstanding issues related to the selection of a unified executive and to put forward concrete and practical recommendations upon which the plenary shall decide.
