UNDP launches the “Development of Juvenile Justice in Libya” program

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has launched the “Development of Juvenile Justice in Libya” program, in coordination with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The head of the Higher Committee for Childhood Mahmoud Al-Sharif told the Libyan Cloud News Agency that this program was presented to local and national authorities more than a year ago and was discussed in several workshops, indicating that work has been done to provide adequate access to all children in Libya before the law.
The representative of the Child Protection Office at UNICEF Yousra bin Lamin explained that this program aims to develop juvenile justice in Libya to ensure a suitable environment for children, especially those who are in contact with the law in accordance with Libyan and international laws and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The program is supported by the European Union, and was launched in partnership with the ministries of justice, interior, and social Affairs, in addition to the Higher Commission for Childhood and the Social Solidarity Fund.
