The Presidential Council suspends the Minister of Interior from work

The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord issued decision No. 562 on Friday regarding the suspension of the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, from work.

The Presidential Council referred Bashagha to investigation within 72 hours. It tasked the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Brigadier Khaled Mazen, to take over the minister’s duties.

The reasons for the suspension included permissions for the recent demonstrations and the minister’s statements about them, as well as the attacks and arrests that accompanied them.
