Italian and Jordanian talks on Libya

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi held talks at the Italian Foreign Ministry headquarters in Rome regarding the most prominent issues in the Mediterranean region and the political and security developments in Libya.
According to a statement published by the Italian Foreign Ministry, Di Maio confirmed to Safadi his country’s commitment to supporting the political transition process in Libya through holding elections on December 24 and the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign fighters.
The two sides reiterated Jordan and Italy’s support of the efforts to end the crisis in Libya, through a political solution that the Libyans agree to, according to the approved roadmap, stressing the need to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections on time.
