AOHRL calls for the release of arbitrarily detained people
Libyan Cloud News Agency – Tripoli
The Arab Organization for Human Rights in Libya (AOHRL) has called on the Libyan authorities to release all those arbitrarily detained people in light of the preparations to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the February Revolution.
In a statement, the AOHRL said that the arbitrarily detained people have suffered the bitterness of imprisonment, and the violations of basic human rights standards, especially the right to receive a fair trial.
It revealed that hundreds of detainees have been subjected to torture and mistreatment, and that most of the cases fall under arbitrary detention in the prisons of Mitiga, Al-Kweifiyah, Qirnada, Abu Hadima, and other secret prisons in which prisoners are held without trial.
