Misrata Marine Terminal due to open in February

Preparations are underway at Misrata Marine Terminal for the inauguration date set for February next, to become one of the sea ports in the central region.
The Libyan Iron and Steel Company supervises the terminal, which will be operated by Kafli Company for Tourism Services.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company, Mohammad Al-Faqih, told the Libyan Cloud News Agency that the idea of establishing the terminal had been proposed in 2012 to alleviate the suffering of Libyan travelers due to the suspension of air traffic.
He noted that the first trips will be conducted by a chartered ship to transport passengers accompanied by their cars and goods. He disclosed that they will buy a ship in the future that will be owned by the terminal.
“We have not encountered any problems, and this is what the private sector is characterized by in terms of flexibility, ease and speed in completing the procedures,” Al-Faqih said.
In the same context, the General Director of Misrata Marine Terminal, Captain Milad Bashir, explained that they will first launch trips to Istanbul, and they plan to launch other trips to Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, and Malta in the future.
Regarding the procedures inside the terminal, he said there are security and health measures that apply to passengers, luggage and accompanying goods, while specialized health teams will apply international protocols and standards regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.
