Bani Walid General Hospital lacks scorpion antivenoms
Libyan Cloud News Agency – Bani Walid
Bani Walid General Hospital is suffering from a severe shortage of scorpion antivenoms, which led to an increase in cases during the past two days.
The head of the emergency department at the hospital, Osama al-Ghazali, told the Libyan Cloud News Agency that women and children are most affected by scorpion stings, adding that the antivenom is not enough at the hospital, which forces the citizen to buy it from private pharmacies at high prices.
He added that the average number of cases ranges between four to five cases per day, appealing to the Ministry of Health to provide scorpion antivenoms especially during the summer when scorpions spread in the city.
