The Libyan Organization for Independent Media (LOFIM) said on Saturday that the detention of the journalist Ahmed Al-Senussi constitutes a flagrant violation of freedom of opinion and expression.
The LOFIM said in a statement that the security guards of the Central Bank of Libya, on Saturday morning, arrested Al-Senussi near the bank’s headquarters in Tripoli without legal justification.
The LOFIM denounced Al-Senussi’s detention and confirmed that it violates the Libyan law, the Constitutional Declaration and international covenants, holding the Government of National Unity and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya responsible for his safety.
The organization called on the Libyan authorities to release Al-Senussi and respect the freedom of the press and expression, without which there will be no democracy, no human rights, and no social justice.
It is noteworthy that the journalist Ahmed Al-Senussi had called for a demonstration against the policy of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, in front of the bank’s headquarters in Tripoli on Saturday.
