Libyan national wanted for the Libyan judiciary handed over to a foreign country

Libyan External Security officer Abu Agila Mohammad Mas’ud, who is wanted for Libyan judiciary, has disappeared.

Several media outlets and human rights activists reported that Mas’ud is now in US custody for his alleged involvement in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 in December 1988, after he was handed over to the American authorities in a deal described by the Libyan House of Representative (HoR) as abduction.

The HoR called the Public Prosecutor to file a criminal case against those who kidnapped Mas’ud and handed him over to foreign authorities.

The HoR considered that the Lockerbie case had been finally settled with former US administration under an official agreement, recalling its request to trial any Libyan involved in an attempt to reopen the Lockerbie case on charges of treason.

For its part, the High Council of State held the Government of National Unity the legal, moral and historical responsibility for handing over the Libyan citizen Mas’ud  to the United States of America in a way it described as unfair and shameful, stressing the rejection of the attempt to reopen the Lockerbie case.

Meanwhile, one of the Libyan lawyers and a member of the Tripoli Bar Association said that the handing over of a Libyan citizen to a foreign country is against the law.
