HNEC closed voter registration inside Libya and opened it abroad

The head of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, announced that the voter registration for locals will be closed on Wednesday, August 18, at 12:00 am.
Al-Sayeh confirmed in a press conference that the voter registration system abroad will open on Wednesday, August 18, at 6:00 pm, and it is scheduled to continue for a period of 30 days.
He indicated that in mid-September, the registered voters will be handed over voter cards, while the electoral cards will not be requested from the Libyan communities registered abroad.
He explained t that the registration process abroad is linked to the databases of the Civil Status Authority and the HNEC.
Al-Sayeh pointed out that as soon as the electoral laws are received, the HNEC will start receiving applications for candidacy to hold the elections on time on December 24, 2021.
