New COVID-19 variant spotted in Libya

A COVID-19 variant of concern has been detected in Libya.
The National Center for Disease Control confirmed that 23 samples out of 88 have tested positive for the new virus, commonly known as the UK variant.
The center warned that this virus spreads more rapidly and that its discovery in Libya would spark concerns due to the expectation of a widespread epidemic wave with severe consequences.
