The International Day of the Disappeared marked in Tripoli

The Public Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons held a ceremony to mark the International Day of the Disappeared for the first time, which falls on August 30 of each year.
The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in Tripoli and a representative of the State Ministry, in addition a number of employees of the authority and the media, attended the ceremony.
The program included speeches and a visual presentation about the authority and its work.
The Director of the Search Department, Lotfi Tawfiq, explained to the Libyan Cloud News Agency that after receiving reports on unidentified corpses, the department tasks its specialized teams with recovering them, according to scientific and internationally recognized methods.
He added that the teams are currently working at a cemetery in Tarhuna city, where 47 bodies have been recovered while work is still in progress.
