Six municipalities win Child-Friendly Municipality Initiative

The Municipal Councils of Awjila, Ghadames, Sirte, Yefren, Alzintan and Souq Al Juma’a have been recognized for their efforts in advancing child rights agenda and prioritizing the needs of children and adolescents.
The recognition came within the joint programme of UNICEF and EU in partnership with Ministry of Local Government.
The six municipalities were presented with Certificates of Recognition for promoting children rights, improving service delivery, protection of children and adolescents, encouraging their participation and engagement with their respective municipalities.
The Child-Friendly Municipal Initiative was launched in 2017 with the aim of encouraging municipalities to promote values that empower children and youth and ensure their positive participation in the decision-making process.
