The NCHRL calls for a probe into the practices of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) has demanded the Attorney General to open an investigation into arbitrary and unjustified measures and abuse of power by the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The commission said that the department took arbitrary measures against Libyan civil society organizations and NGOs by demanding International and UN organizations operating in Libya not to include the civil society organizations and NGOs in training programs and projects launched by international organizations, in exchange for approval to implement their projects in Libya.

The NCHRL added that these practices by the department violate the constitutional rules and the legislations in force, which guaranteed the freedom of work of civil society organizations and NGOs.
