The Minister of Local Government of the Government of National Accord GNA, Badad Gansu, signed the start of the implementation of the program “Recovery, Stability and socio-economic Development in Libya” on Thursday at the Ministry of Interior. The European Union Ambassador, the adviser of the Italian Embassy, and the Director of the United Nations Development Program in Libya were present.
The program aims to strengthen the role of Libyan municipalities and their skills as key players in the process of calm and stability in the country. 50 million euros have been allocated for this project.
The program focuses on the rehabilitation of basic service facilities in 24 municipalities all over Libya in the education sectors, health, water and sanitation, energy and support to local authorities and capacity-building with technical assistance to professionals and decision-makers in municipalities, civil society organizations and actors.
